British Sri Lankans donate medical items to Sri Lankan hospitals

Dr Dinuka de Silva handed over 500 Non-rebreather masks for the use of Intermediate Covid-19 Treatment Centre at the Divisional Hospital Ittapana to High Commissioner Saroja Sirisena recently.
Many Associations of Sri Lankans in the UK as well as individual donors and well-wishers have also contributed to the Sri Lankan hospitals by providing medical equipment urgently required by health authorities in Sri Lanka. The High Commission, with the generous assistance of the national carrier SriLankan Airlines, already dispatched a several consignments of such medical items. Sri Lanka High Commission in London celebrates Vesak

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in London held annual Vesak celebrations from 26-30 May 2021 at the High Commission premises while observing the UK Government’s Covid-19 guidelines.

The celebrations began with a ceremony on 26 May 2021 with the attendance of the Maha Sangha, Members of Houses of Parliament, the diplomatic corps and members of British Sri Lankan community.

ARTICLE OF SRI LANKA TEA BOARD ON THE OCCASION OF CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL TEA DAY – 21ST MAY 2021

International Tea Day is a United Nations observance celebrated annually on May 21 to express the economical, biological and physical benefits of tea. It was inaugurated by the General Assembly and essentially replaced the unofficial observance of the same name, which used to be celebrated on December 15 in tea producing countries. The observance of International Tea Day is promoted and facilitated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in collaboration with other relevant organizations and stakeholders.

State Ministry of Regional Cooperation launches Creative Economy Programme

The State Ministry of Regional Cooperation has launched a “Creative Economy Programme” with the view towards contributing to the country’s economy and promoting Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage.
