The staff of the Sri Lanka High Commission in the United Kingdom commenced work for the year 2021

The staff of the Sri Lanka High Commission in the United Kingdom commenced work for the year 2021 by offering alms to the London Buddhist Vihara and organising a special programme at the High Commission premises.
The special programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag of Sri Lanka at the Chancery building by High Commissioner Saroja Sirisena, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the staff of the High Commission. Thereafter, two minutes’ silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the Motherland. This was followed by the reading of the Oath of Public Servants by the High Commissioner and staff.

The High Commissioner in her remarks thanked the staff for the cooperation and support extended to her to achieve the objectives of the High Commission during the past year. She also highlighted the importance of upholding the highest standards of integrity and commitment to discharge the duties for the benefit of all Sri Lankans while maintaining a positive mindset during this unprecedented pandemic.
The programme ended with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and partaking in a traditional breakfast comprising milk rice and sweetmeats to celebrate the dawn of the New Year.
