On assuming duties, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom, Manisha Gunasekera visited the London Buddhist Vihara on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 to receive the blessings of Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of Great Britain, and other members of the clergy.
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom along with the British High Commission in Colombo facilitated an investment promotion event under the auspices of the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka on 18th October 2018 at the High Commission premises. The morning session was graced by Ranil Jayawardene MP, British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Sri Lanka. Officials of the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, British High Commission in Colombo, UK Department for International Trade, CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Limited, UK Export Finance and investors participated at the session. The Commonwealth Secretary-General Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland QC will arrive in Sri Lanka on Wednesday, 01 August for a four-day official visit. This will be her first visit to the country since she assumed the Office of Secretary-General in April 2016. » Read more

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom facilitated a business promotion event on the theme ‘Help Sri Lanka for a Better Tomorrow’, organized by InfoMate (Private) Limited Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of the John Keells Group. The event focussed on the role of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in creating employment in Sri Lanka through impact sourcing. The High Commission of Sri Lanka in London, United Kingdom held its Annual Ifthar reception on 25th May to commemorate the month of Ramadan, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community living in the UK.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom facilitated an interactive investor forum organised by the Research and Intelligence Unit (RIU) to promote the Real Estate Market in Sri Lanka. The event was held at the High Commission on 17th May 2018.
A message from Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media was read out at the event. The Acting High Commissioner Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, in his welcome address, highlighted the economic strengths and challenges the country currently faces. He also spoke on opportunities for potential investors, who wish to invest in Sri Lanka.
