Notice- Review of the approval and quarantine procedure to enter Sri Lanka

Sri Lankans returning to home country and ex-Sri Lankans traveling for family visits etc

The following categories of persons will be permitted to enter Sri Lanka without prior approval of the Foreign Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority:

  1. Sri Lankans (including Sri Lankan seafarers arriving by air)
  2. Dual Citizens who travel on Sri Lankan Passports
  3. Foreign spouses of Sri Lankans
  4. Unmarried children of Sri Lankans, who hold foreign nationality

Ex-Sri Lankans holding foreign passports (who do not hold Dual Citizenship) as well as Dual citizens travelling on foreign pasports travelling to Sri Lanka for family visits/family emergencies etc should continue to obtain prior approval of the Foreign Ministry. Such persons should obtain Foreign Ministry/Civil Aviation Authority approval by sending a request to the Covid Team at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo to email address entry.permission@mfa.gov.lk with copy to kanchana.bandara@mfa.gov.lk giving the following details:

  1. Name of the passenger
  2. Nationality and the passport number
  3. The country of departure
  4. Intended date of entry into Sri Lanka and the flight number, if available
  5. Purpose of the visit

They should have prior visas to enter Sri Lanka as On-Arrival visas are not issued at present. As visas for Sri Lanka are issued only by the Department of Immigration and Emigration at present, any person of this category who need a visa for Sri Lanka should arrange a representative to visit the Visa Division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka at Battaramulla with the relevant documents (copy of the passport of the traveller and the approval received by email from the Foreign Ministry for traveling to Sri Lanka) to obtain a visa/Landing Endorsement by paying the relevant fee.

Ex-Sri Lankans and foreign nationals visiting Sri Lanka for tourism

Ex-Sri Lankans holding foreign passports and foreign nationals who wish to travel to Sri Lanka for the purpose of tourism should follow the Tourist Travel Bio Bubble procedure of the Sri Lanka Toursim Promotion Bureau. The procedure, including how to obtain the approval for travelling and visa procedure is available on the website at the link https://www.srilanka.travel/helloagain.

මෙම මහ කොමසාරිස් කාර්යාලයේ කොන්සියුලර් අංශයෙන් කොන්සියුලර් සේවා (විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍ර සහ ද්විත්ව පුරවැසිභාවය සඳහා ඉල්ලුම්පත් මෙන්ම උපත් ලියාපදිංචි කිරීම, ඇටර්නි බලපත්‍ර  සහ දිවුරුම් ප්‍රකාශ අත්සන් කිරීම ඇතුළු ලේඛන සහතික කර ගැනීම) සඳහා අයදුම් කරන අයදුම් කරුවන් අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම ඒ සඳහා වෙලාවක් කලින් වෙන්කරවා ගත යුතුය.

ඒ සඳහා වෙලාවන් වෙන් කර ගැනීම ජාලගත ක්‍රමවේදය ඔස්සේ  https://hclappontments.embassyonline.lk යන සබැඳියෙන් කර ගන්නා මෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.වේලාවන් වෙන් කර ගැනීම දුරකථනය ඔස්සේ සිදු කළ නොහැකි බවද දැනුම් දෙමු.

එහෙත්, ජ්‍යෙෂ්ට පුරවැසියන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වැටුප් සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිත සහතික ලබා ගැනීමට අදාළ ඉල්ලුම්පත් භාර දීමට මෙම මහ කොමසාරිස් කාර්යාලයේ කොන්සියුලර් අංශයට පැමිණීමට කලින් වෙලාව වෙන් කරවා ගැනීම අවශ්‍ය නැත.

ජ්‍යෙෂ්ට පුරවැසියන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වැටුප් සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ජීවිත සහතික ලබා ගැනීමට අදාළ ඉල්ලුම්පත් තැපැල් මගින්ද එවිය හැකිය. තැපැල් මගින් අයදුම්පත් එවීමට පෙර, අයදුම්පතට ඇමිණිය යුතු  ලියකියවිලි, කොන්සියුලර් ගාස්තු සහ අනිකුත් විස්තර සඳහා කරුණාකර අපගේ වෙබ් අඩවියේ “Consular” මෙනුවට ගොස් තොරතුරු කියවා බලන්න.

Consular Services

Submission of applications for all consular services (passports, dual citizenship, registration of births, legalisation of documents including signing of Powers of Attorney and Affidavits) at the Consular Section of the High Commission is strictly by prior appointment.

Appointments should be made online via the link https://hclappontments.embassyonline.lk. Please note that appointments cannot be made over the phone.

However, senior citizens who need to get their life certificates for pension purposes may visit the Consular Section without prior appointments. They may also send their applications for life certificates by post as well.

Please refer to the “Consular” Menu of our website for details of the necessary supporting documents and consular fees before sending the applications by post.

Sri Lanka underscores the importance of health of citizens in a successful democracy at the 13th Bali Democracy Forum in Jakarta

Addressing the 13th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) State Minister for Regional Co-operation, Tharaka Balasuriya, underscored Sri Lanka’s commitment to ensure the health of citizens of Sri Lanka and the region.  He said this at the Ministerial Panel that was held on 10 December 2020 on the subject of “Upholding Democracy: COVID-19 Pandemic”. The Ministerial Panel focused on sharing state policies of countries to prevent and maintain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doors open for Sri Lankan Jewellery Industry in South Africa

The outgoing South African High Commissioner in Colombo Robina P. Marks called on Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Foreign Ministry on 04 December 2020.

The High Commissioner apprised the Minister that the Government of South Africa was keen to obtain assistance from Sri Lankan craftsmen to develop the Jewellery Industry in South Africa. Foreign Minister Gunawardena sought the South African expertise in the canning industry for the food and vegetable industry in Sri Lanka as around 40% of the harvest is wasted in the country due to technology gaps in this field. Besides, the Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in trade, investment and tourism sectors between the two countries. It was also discussed on further expanding tea exports to the African continent through the South African distribution network.
