High Commissioner attended the opening session of the 33rd Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
HE Rohitha Bogollagama, High Commissioner attended the opening session of the 33rd Assembly of the IMO on 27 November 2023 at the Organization’s headquarters.
The Assembly is the highest governing body of the organization which is responsible for approving the work programme and budget, determining financial arrangements, and electing the IMO Council. The Assembly consists of all IMO Member States and meets once every two years.
During the event, High Commissioner met Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Minister of Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary General designated of the IMO, Ambassador Saida Muna Tasneem, Vice Chair of the Assembly and Bangladesh High Commissioner in the United Kingdom and Delegations of India, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, and Brazil. High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr. Ajith Wijesinghe, Director General of Merchant Shipping of Sri Lanka at the session.
