Networking Reception at the House of Commons to Celebrate Sri Lanka’s Independence Day

A special Networking Reception was held at the House of Commons on 6 February 2025, in honour of Sri Lanka’s 77th Independence Day. This prestigious gathering brought together Members of both Houses of Parliament and representatives of the Government of the United Kingdom and think tanks, to celebrate Sri Lanka’s achievements since Independence and to strengthen bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

The event provided a platform for generating meaningful dialogue, exploring new avenues for collaboration through parliamentary exchanges, and recalling the longstanding relationship between the parliamentary traditions of the two nations, and the commitment to continuing partnership between Sri Lanka and the UK.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom expressed its appreciation to the Parliamentarians for their initiative in proposing this event, enabling its successful organisation jointly by the High Commission and the House of Commons.

As a token of appreciation, attendees at the reception received a gift bag comprising Sri Lankan products from Sri Lankan businesses in London.
