High Commissioner Nimal Senadheera Pays a Courtesy Call on the Minister for the Indo-Pacific Catherine West

High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom Nimal Senadheera paid a courtesy call on the UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Catherine West MP at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London on 3rd July 2025.

At the outset, Minister West warmly congratulated High Commissioner Senadheera on his appointment. She also reflected on her visit to Sri Lanka in January 2025, as the first envoy of the Labour Government.

During their meeting, the High Commissioner and Minister West held wide-ranging discussions on key areas of mutual interest, including trade and tourism, education, health, human rights, reconciliation, and strengthening people-to-people ties. High Commissioner Senadheera reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the United Kingdom in mutually beneficial areas.

Minister West discussed ongoing UK support for Sri Lanka in demining, water management and higher education. She assured the support of the UK Government in expanding collaboration with Sri Lanka, particularly in the areas of education, health, and economic recovery.

The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, with both sides committed to fostering deeper bilateral cooperation.
