High Commissioner Nimal Senadheera meets the Directors of SL–UKCC London
Board of Directors of the Sri Lanka–UK Chamber of Commerce (SLUKCC) paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom Nimal Senadheera on 19th June 2025 at the High Commission premises. The delegation was led by the SLUKCC President Mr. Eranga Pathirage and General Secretary Mr. Charles Rohan de Alwis.
At the outset, the Board of Directors extended their best wishes to High Commissioner Senadheera for a successful and productive tenure in the United Kingdom. The ensuing discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral trade, investment and tourism ties between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. Discussions also touched on a range of strategic areas, including Sri Lanka’s labour law reforms, promoting and positioning the country as an attractive destination for investment including in the Colombo Port City, and enhancing Sri Lanka’s image beyond budget-friendly location to a premium and high-end tourism market, etc.
The meeting provided the opportunity to explore opportunities for collaboration across key sectors, emphasised the importance of facilitation of investor-friendly policies, and the valuable role of the Sri Lankan diaspora in the UK in driving economic partnerships. Discussion also centered on closer engagement with the Chamber for promoting forthcoming flagship trade events in Sri Lanka such as “Disrupt Asia” in September 2025 and “Sri Lanka Expo” in June 2026.
High Commissioner Senadheera welcomed the Chamber’s proactive efforts in promoting commercial engagement and reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to supporting the joint initiatives that contribute to sustainable economic growth and mutual benefit for both nations.
