Deepavali Celebrations in London

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in London held its Annual Deepavali Celebrations on Friday 16th November 2018, in the High Commission premises.
The celebrations commenced with Hindu religious observances led by Sri Ramanadan Kurukkal who invoked blessings on Sri Lanka and its people. In his address he highlighted the significance of Deepavali and stated that all Sri Lankans should unite irrespective of their religious beliefs to develop the country.





The newly appointed High Commissioner Manisha Gunasekera visited the Eelapatheeswarar Aalayam on Friday 02nd November 2018.

On assuming duties, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom, Manisha Gunasekera visited the London Buddhist Vihara on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 to receive the blessings of Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of Great Britain, and other members of the clergy.
The newly appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom, Manisha Gunasekera assumed duties at the Mission on 23rd October 2018. High Commissioner Gunasekera was received upon arrival, by Mr David Pearey, Special Representative of the UK Foreign Secretary.
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom along with the British High Commission in Colombo facilitated an investment promotion event under the auspices of the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka on 18th October 2018 at the High Commission premises. The morning session was graced by Ranil Jayawardene MP, British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Sri Lanka. Officials of the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, British High Commission in Colombo, UK Department for International Trade, CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Limited, UK Export Finance and investors participated at the session. The evening session was attended by members of the Sri Lankan community living in the United Kingdom.
