Sri Lanka High Commissioner Rohitha Bogollagama interacts with the Sri Lanka – UK Chamber of Commerce (SLUKCC)

High Commissioner Rohitha Bogollagama, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom met with the members of the Board of Directors of the SL-UKCC at the High Commission today, 24 November 2023.

Along with Mr Shehan Silva, President of the SL-UKCC and Head of Digital Solutions at HSBC, Mr Charles de Alwis, General Secretary of the SL-UKCC and Legal Counsel & Company Secretary, Ms Thana Sivasambu, Managing Director of RUCI Products Mr Safdar Bandukwala, Director at Amari Commodities Ltd and Mr Eranga Pathirage, Global Head- HR at Virtusa joined the meeting, The Board of Directors presented  High Commissioner Bogollagama with an overview of the SL-UKCC, outlining the activities already conducted in collaboration with the High Commission and the lineup of activities for 2024.

High Commissioner Bogollagama invited SLUKCC to carry out an accelerated drive to promote investments and businesses into Sri Lanka from the UK which would boost the Sri Lankan economy. He further highlighted the importance of organising an array of Sri Lanka tourism promotional events in the UK targeting high-end tourists, as well as promoting Sri Lankan food and beverages as luxury cuisine among British consumers in close coordination with the High Commission. SLUKCC assured their fullest cooperation to High Commissioner Bogollagama in enhancing economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and the UK.

 The Sri Lanka – UK Chamber of Commerce was established in 2021 under the patronage of the High Commissioner and currently holds a growing membership of 50 business individuals, SMEs and large companies in the UK which are engaged in trade, investment, and tourism with Sri Lanka. The SLUK-CC is also in the process of expanding its membership.
