GPWF 2026 Highlights Women’s Leadership in Global Economic Transformation
The Global Power Women Forum (GPWF) 2026 was successfully held from 8–9 June 2026 at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, academics, business leaders, development practitioners, and institutional stakeholders to advance dialogue on inclusive economic governance and women-centred development.
Held under the theme “Women-Powered Economies: Capital, Trade & the Future of Economic Governance,” the Forum provided a high-level platform for discussions on economic transformation, institutional reform, and the role of women’s leadership in shaping sustainable and inclusive growth.
A key highlight of the Forum was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Addressing the opening plenary on “Governing Through Crisis: Women’s Leadership and the Architecture of People-Centred Economic Recovery,” the Prime Minister outlined Sri Lanka’s progress in economic recovery and reform, including efforts to strengthen institutional governance, advance digital transformation, and promote knowledge-based economic development. Further, referencing Sri Lanka’s national policy vision— “A Thriving Nation, Beautiful Life”—she noted that “central to this vision is the deliberate inclusion of women at the highest levels of governance and public administration,” highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive and forward-looking development.
During the Global Power Impact & Legacy Honours Ceremony, the Deputy High Commissioner of the Sri Lankan High Commission in London received the Global Power Impact & Legacy Honour on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, in recognition of her leadership and contributions to inclusive governance and sustainable development. Accepting the award, the Deputy High Commissioner conveyed the Prime Minister’s appreciation for the recognition and noted that the honour reflected Sri Lanka’s commitment to advancing inclusive governance, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development. The Forum concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening international partnerships, fostering more inclusive economic systems, and amplifying women’s leadership in global economic decision-making.
