President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the UK from 17 – 20 September 2022 to attend the State Funeral Service of The Late Queen Elizabeth II.
On Sunday, 18 September, the President accompanied by the First Lady Prof Maithree Wickramasinghe and High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena attended the Lying-in-State of the Late Queen at the Palace of Westminster which was followed by a Reception hosted by His Majesty King Charles III at the Buckingham Palace. » Read more

At the outset, on behalf of our Government, I reiterate our unwavering commitment towards advancing, securing and protecting the human rights of our people, and continuing our engagement with the Council in a spirit of cooperation and dialogue. In keeping with our commitment, notwithstanding our categorical rejection of resolution 46/1, we have submitted Sri Lanka’s detailed written response to the High Commissioner’s Report. We have requested that Sri Lanka’s Comments be placed as an Addendum to the Report, to accord with best practices. » Read more
