Issuance of Driving License to Sri Lankans Abroad

 

Notice to the General Public

Submission of applications for Renewal/ Duplicate/ change of personal details of Sri Lankan Driving Licence at the Consular Section of the High Commission is strictly by prior appointment.

A Sri Lankan citizen residing in the United Kingdom can apply for the Renewal /Duplicate/ change of personal details of Sri Lankan Driving Licence.

  • Renewal of Sri Lankan Driving Licence

Ordinary Sri Lankan Driving Licences are valid for 10 years from the date of issuance.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  1. Duly filled MTA 30/2 offline application (original) (This application can be obtained from the Sri Lanka High Commission in London and it should be filled ONLY in black ink)
  2. Current Driving Licence Issued by Department of Motor Traffic in Sri Lanka
  3. Medical certificate from the GP to certify that the applicant is fit to drive vehicles (click here to download the format)                 .
  4. Original valid passport with a copy
  5. Original valid visa with a copy
  6. Original National Identity Card with a copy (It’s not mandatory if the NIC number is mentioned in the passport.
  7. Two Black and White passport size photographs. (35mm X 45mm)
  8. Receipt of payment made to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London. (GBP 90/-)
  • Duplicate of Sri Lankan Driving Licence

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED 

  1. Duly filled MTA 30/2 offline application (original) (This application can be obtained from the Sri Lanka High Commission in London and it should be filled ONLY in black ink)
  2. Complaint made to the local police station of the applicants resident city or the Driving Licence that is deformed or blurred.
  3. Medical certificate from the GP to certify that the applicant is fit to drive vehicles (click here to download the format)
  4. Original valid passport with a copy
  5. Original valid visa with a copy
  6. Original National Identity Card with a copy (It’s not mandatory if the NIC number is mentioned in the passport.)
  7. It is mandatory to mention the Driving Licence Number or NIC Number to trace back details in the computer system .
  8. Two Black and White passport size photographs. (35mm X 45mm)
  9. Receipt of payment made to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London. (GBP 90/-)
  • Change of personal details of Sri Lankan Driving Licence

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  1. Duly filled MTA 30/2 offline application (original) (This application can be obtained from the Sri Lanka High Commission in London and it should be filled ONLY in black ink)
  2. Current Driving Licence Issued by Department of Motor Traffic
  3. Original valid passport with a copy
  4. Original valid visa with a copy
  5. Original National Identity Card with a copy (It’s not mandatory if the NIC number is mentioned in the passport.
  6. Evidence documents relating to the change to be made;

i.e. Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certificate etc. for name change; and Resident Certificate for address change.

  1. Two Black and White passport size photographs. (35mm X 45mm)
  2. Receipt of payment made to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London. (GBP 90/-)

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR RENEWAL/ DUPLICATE/CHANGE OF PERSONAL DETAILS OF SRI LANKAN DRIVING LICENCE

The Prescribed Fee:

Renewal before the end of expiry date of the Licence /Duplicate Licence /change of personal details of the Licence– £90/-

Late fee per annum for Renewal of Driving Licence- £10

Application handling fee – £15

Additional amount will be charged if the photocopies are taken from the High Commission.

 

Method of Payment – Debit/Credit card, Postal Order or Banker’s Draft 

(Postal Order/Banker’s Draft should be drawn in favour of Sri Lanka High Commission)

Please note that personal cheques will not be accepted.

Instructions for Completing the Application

  1. MTA 30/2 offline applications are available at Sri Lankan High commission in London.
  2. The offline application should be clearly filled in English block letters within the cages in BLACK
  3. Do not draft out of scanning area when filling the application.
  4. In respect of the part C of the offline application, the details of the Medical Certificate should be mentioned. Applicant’s blood group should be included in the medical certificate and it should be submitted along with the application.
  5. In Black and White passport size photographs, the background of the photograph should be in white.

Special Note –

  • Translated documents will not be accepted as originals
  • All photocopies must be on A4 size paper & should be one sided.
  • Renewal of driving licence, issuance a copy (duplicate) of the driving licence in case of lost or damaged and change of personal details (name or address) of a Driving Licence can only be entertained through this service.
  • Fees will not be refunded under any circumstances, after issuance of a receipt.

Your application maybe rejected in the events of the following:

  • Incomplete application / lack of all required supporting documents
  • Using photo copied application forms
  • If anything is written outside the border of the application form
  • If colour or incorrect size photograph is submitted (ONLY BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS OF 35mmx45mm WILL BE ACCEPTED)
