High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom

The newly appointed High Commissioner Manisha Gunasekera visited the Eelapatheeswarar Aalayam on Friday 02^nd November 2018.

The Chief Priest Sureshwara Kurukkal and Ganesh Kurukkal conducted a special Pooja to bless the new High Commissioner, and the country and the people of Sri Lanka.  Deputy High Commissioner Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, and members of the Kovil Management Committee of the Eelapatheeswarar Aalayam Mr Rajasingham Jayadevan and Mr Kandiah Vivekananthan also participated in the event.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom along with the British High Commission in Colombo facilitated an investment promotion event under the auspices of the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka on 18^th October 2018 at the High Commission premises. The morning session was graced by Ranil Jayawardene MP, British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Sri Lanka. Officials of the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, British High Commission in Colombo, UK Department for International Trade, CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Limited, UK Export Finance and investors participated at the session. The Commonwealth Secretary-General Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland QC will arrive in  Sri Lanka on Wednesday, 01 August for a four-day official visit. This will be her first visit to the country since she assumed the Office of Secretary-General in April 2016. » Read more

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom facilitated a business promotion event on the theme ‘Help Sri Lanka for a Better Tomorrow’, organized by InfoMate (Private) Limited Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of the John Keells Group. The event focussed on the role of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in creating employment in Sri Lanka through impact sourcing. The main purpose of the session was to promote the Rural BPO sector of Sri Lanka and to attract businesses from the UK market to create more employment in the rural areas of the country. » Read more
